Pf. Jiye Noh
a direct manifesto against the pop-flavored music masquerading as Korean ‘Art song'
Jiye Noh is a contemporary composer based in the Dallas area, dedicated to weaving diverse narrative genres and structural forms into her music. Creating at the vibrant intersection of sound and story, she explores innovative modes of artistic expression by utilizing rich, sonorous materials and forging deep connections between sonic and visual arts. Her works inherently invite audiences to engage with evocative narratives of the self and profound ontological inquiries.
Jiye actively collaborates with new music soloists and ensembles, while continuously developing experimental projects and pioneering new notation systems.
Jiye graduated from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where she studied under Michael Hersch. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Composition with summa cum laude honors from Hanyang University, mentoring under Jared Redmond, Myunghoon Park, Jihyang Kim, and Hanshin Lee. Her foundational musical education was shaped at the Seoul Arts High School, the Yewon School, and the Academy of Gifted Young Musicians at the Seoul Arts Center.
Jiye’s compositions have been premiered by renowned ensembles and orchestras, including the JACK Quartet, Ensemble Dal Niente, Ensemble Eins, Supia Saxophone Quartet, and Ensemble Conscience. Beyond traditional concert music, her collaborative spirit extends to interdisciplinary projects; she has engaged in performance-based collaborations with visual artists from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and has created original music in collaboration with a Korean beauty brand, bridging the gap between contemporary sound and commercial/visual mediums.

ARCHITECT of SOUND
Unlocking your unique musical voice through structural depth and storytelling.
This composition course goes beyond traditional composition. It is designed for creative minds who wish to explore the fusion of sonic and visual arts, translating personal narratives into rich musical textures. From fundamental instrumentation to contemporary orchestration and multimedia soundscapes, you will learn to build your own distinct musical world.
The GRAMMAR of MUSIC
Demystifying the core mechanics of music to fuel your creative freedom.
Theory shouldn't be a rigid wall of rules; it is the ultimate tool for liberation. This class bridges the gap between historical conventions and modern creation. By mastering structural analysis, advanced harmony, and ear training, you will gain the analytical depth needed to intuitively understand, interpret, and shape the music you hear and create.
TOUCH, TEXTURE, and EXPRESSION
Developing refined technique and delicate sensitivity at the keyboard.
From young beginners discovering their first keys to advanced players refining nuanced expressions, this tailored piano curriculum focuses on the physical comfort of playing and the artistic depth of performance. We nurture not just the mechanical ability to read notes, but the capacity to feel, control, and project the subtle colors of sound.
